Dr. Walford also goes into the effects of the CRON diet on diseases like cancer, diseases of the heart, blood vessels and kidneys, and also other age-related diseases. "Beyond the 120 Year Diet" comes complete with menus and recipes for CRON diet foods. Appendix A contains a listing of menus for "the healthiest 14 days of your life." Along with each daily menu is a listing of the % of RDA's of vitamins and minerals, as well as a nutritional info listing showing total calories, % of calories from protein, % of calories from fat, % of calories from carbohydrates, total protein, total fat, total carbohydrate, fiber, and cholesterol. The complete recipes that follow also have with them the same nutritional info listing. Most of the recipes in this book contain a large number of ingredients, which was likely the result of balancing the nutritive values so that the calorie reduction was accomplished without losing the essential vitamin and mineral content. For instance the muffin recipe contains a whopping 21 ingredients. While this "high nutrient density" may be necessary to meet the daily essentials it makes the preparation task daunting to say the least. My approach to this would be substituting supplements in the form of pills or capsules for some of the ingredients. In this way the recipes could be simplified and this would make it easier for the average person to stick to the regimen. It's a little like starting a new set of exercise routines. Most people are more likely to "stick with it" if it's easy, but if it is over-complicated many would just give it up.
