Wash, pare and slice potatoes thin. Heat shortening in heavy frying pan. bacon drippings are excellent for use in frying potatoes. When short-\ ening is bubbling hot, lay in potatoes, sprinkle with salt, cover pan closely. Cook until tender and brown. If desired cook finely chopped onions with potatoes.
