Chow Mein
1 1/2 lbs lean pork
4 tbsp shortening
1 1/2 cps chopped onions
3 cps bean sprouts
1 1/2 cps chopped celery
1 cp sliced mushrooms(optional)
1 tbsp molasses
1 cp water
4 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp enriched all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 - Cut meat ismall pieces and fry in hot shortening until well browned.
2 - Add onions, cook 5 minutes.
3 - Add bean sprouts, celery and mushrooms, cook 30 minutes on low heat.
4 - Add molasses, water and seasonings.
5 - Make a batter of the flour and soy sauce and add.
6 - Cook 2 minutes longer. SWerve on hot steaming rice.
